The Paperback cover design package is ideal for both first-time authors and established Ebook authors. It includes the possibility to make changes to the cover drafts until you are happy with them.

What makes an effective cover design?
Simplicity: Keep it simple. Always. Remember that a potential reader is looking at that cover for only two seconds  before deciding to click on it or not. Whatever the cover has to say needs to be conveyed in less time than that. A sign of an amateur cover (and by association, an amateur author) is a cover that is too busy.
Legibility: Far more important than any image on the cover is legibility of the title. If you can’t read what it says at the smallest thumbnail size, it won’t work.
Genre: The genre of the book needs to be conveyed in the few seconds that a potential buyer is viewing the image and reading the title. Certain genres use certain images, colors, fonts and styles. Stick with what works.
Emotion: This is the key ingredient for a great cover design that sells. This is what will convince a potential reader to click for more. The cover needs to convey an emotion quickly and simply, whether that emotion is love, lust, suspense, fear, etc.
*Stock images are from Shutterstock, are royalty free and are purchased using the standard licence. The standard licence only allows ebook sales and print runs to 500,000 copies. Anything exceeding that will require the extended image licence. The extended image licence will have to be purchased by the author separately. A standard licence can be upgraded to an extended licence once the user nears the 500,000 copy limit. Let me know if you should ever need to upgrade your licence. For more information on the licensing of images, please visit http://www.shutterstock.com/licencing.mhtml.
SPECIAL NOTE: Excludes Character Creation – If your cover requires a particular type of person or group of people, there will additional costs based on the complexity. This usually starts at $300, and a separate quote will be provided for this service. Please note: Character creation on a cover is not recommended. Simpler book covers with more abstract concepts nearly always work better.
IMPORTANT: I strongly recommend NOT creating a scene from the book on the cover. A reader will see only a small thumbnail of your cover (among many others) for just a few seconds before deciding to buy or not. Creating a specific scene from your book simply makes the thumbnail less clear and less likely to generate sales. The best book covers have a simple image that evokes an emotion and tells a straightforward message.
